Select Board · Meeting of August 10, 2026

East Bridgewater approves 35 million school bond, continues camera review. The Select Board unanimously approved a 35 million dollar Bond Anticipation Note for Central Elementary School construction, combining previous design funds with new construction money from a 125 million dollar voter authorization. The board deferred a decision on the Police Department's Flock Safety license plate reader cameras after more than 15 residents raised concerns about warrant requirements, privacy, and oversight.

Police Chief Michael Jenkins noted one camera is installed at 522 West Street but not yet operational, with the three-year contract funded through federal drug forfeiture money at no taxpayer cost. The board also unanimously rejected an all-way stop proposal at Bridge Street and Plymouth Street, citing safety concerns.
