East Bridgewater Board of Health Approves Town Tavern Patio With Septic Pumping Conditions

EAST BRIDGEWATER — May 4, 2026 — East Bridgewater Board of Health approves Town Tavern patio seating with septic monitoring conditions. The board voted unanimously Monday to allow the Town Tavern to add a seasonal outdoor patio, capped at 76 seats, after health agent Eric Badger presented a draft recommendation requiring monthly septic pumping until a consistent wastewater baseline can be established — complicated by residual waste left in the tank from the prior Standish Grill operation. The board amended the condition on the floor, agreeing to reevaluate the pumping frequency after three months once baseline data is available. The board also approved five disposal system construction permits, including Local Upgrade Variance 26-18 at 757 Central Street, the most complex, carrying five separate variance requests including wetland setback reductions and permission to use sieve analysis in lieu of a percolation test. Badger reminded members that the community septic management loan program appears on the town meeting warrant scheduled for May 11.
