East Bridgewater Historical Commission closes public hearing on proposed Millett Cottage demolition. The commission held a public hearing March 30 on a proposed demolition order for the Millett Cottage at 54 Plymouth Street, a significant historic building designated under town bylaws. Property owner Todd Engstrom and realtor Brian Fenstermaker argued the structure is in extremely poor condition with no rehabilitative buyers, though one builder will purchase if a demolition order is issued.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission has urged preservation or documentation. The commission closed the hearing without voting on the permit, giving itself 21 days under bylaw to issue a decision.
