East Bridgewater Select Board approves $1.5 million EPA Brownfields cleanup grant application. The board unanimously authorized submission of the EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grant for the Former Precise Engineering site at 54 West Union Street, a long-vacant contaminated former industrial property now owned by the town through tax taking. The grant, requiring no local cost share, seeks funding equal to the estimated full cost of cleanup with contingencies included.
The site is located within a Zone II drinking water supply area. The application will be reviewed by University of Connecticut technical assistance before submission. In other action, the board approved a new contract with Town Administrator Charles Seelig and authorized the Treasurer/Collector to sell 42 tax-title properties acquired through foreclosure.
