East Bridgewater School Committee Votes to Raise Busing Fees and Authorize $11,935 Cybersecurity Audit

EAST BRIDGEWATER -- April 28, 2026, East Bridgewater School Committee raises busing fees and approves $11,935 cybersecurity audit at April 28 meeting. The committee voted unanimously to set the 2026-2027 individual busing fee at $275, up from $250, and the family cap at $500, up from $450, with Business Administrator John Shea projecting the changes will generate roughly $12,050 in additional revenue assuming a stable ridership population. The committee also authorized Custom Computer Specialists to conduct a four-to-six-week technology and cybersecurity assessment, following a January security incident, at a cost of $11,935 on state contract, with a report and recommended action items to follow. Building rental fees, frozen since 2018, were updated to reflect a roughly 6 percent increase based on regional benchmarking, with committee members calling for annual reviews going forward. The committee accepted a $1,500 donation from the Kiwanis Club of East Bridgewater for high school library books, approved a $1,918 stipend Memorandum of Agreement with the East Bridgewater Education Association for a Homework Club Advisor at the Gordon W. Mitchell School, and greenlit two personal diploma-presentation requests for the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony.
