School Committee Approves New Technology Director Job

School Committee · Meeting of August 19, 2026

EAST BRIDGEWATER — The East Bridgewater School Committee approved a new technology director job description and renamed behavior specialist positions to "behavior support assistant." Assistant Superintendent Jen McPartland said the BSA change "more accurately captured what we are asking for them to do each day," while one member pushed back: "If I had my child that needed those services, I'd rather them with a specialist than an assistant." The committee also heard the district closed the prior fiscal year $7,549 under budget, learned the Central School project submitted a 60 percent design to the Massachusetts School Building Authority with a 90 percent design due October 1, and nominated member Dan Pika as its voting delegate to the Massachusetts Association of School Committees' November conference. Families will get a directory-information and photo/video opt-out form next week, with consent assumed after September 4 for non-respondents.
