East Bridgewater School Committee Accepts $3,000 in PTA Donations, Approves Five Warrants
EAST BRIDGEWATER — January 20, 2026 — East Bridgewater School Committee approves warrants and hears construction, budget updates. The committee met January 20 at the junior-senior high school library, approving five payroll and accounts payable warrants and accepting $3,000 in donations from the Gordon W. Mitchell School PTA — $1,000 toward an outdoor dining area and $2,000 for a bullying awareness assembly. Superintendent Dr. Gina Williams reported the district interviewed nine construction management at-risk firms for the Central School building project over two days and plans to notify the selected company by midweek, noting that soil pre-consolidation work — requiring an estimated 1,500 truckloads of fill across a 30,000-yard footprint — must begin within weeks and will eliminate the high school softball field for the 2026 season. School Business Administrator John Shea reported a projected net positive budget balance of $202,267 after revolving fund offsets against a core deficit of $1,576,000, a figure "pretty consistent with the prior two school committees." Williams also outlined a strategic planning process set to run February through June, with a consultant-facilitated stakeholder group of 20 to 25 people and a final plan due to the committee by July 1.
