East Bridgewater Select Board Assigns Warrant Articles, Enters Police Contract Executive Session

EAST BRIDGEWATER -- May 4, 2026, East Bridgewater Select Board assigns warrant articles ahead of May 11 Town Meeting and votes 2-0 to enter executive session on police contracts. With Chair Peter Spagone Jr. absent, Vice Chair Carole Julius presided Monday as the two-member board joined Town Moderator Robert Looney, Town Clerk Kathleen Cavanagh, and Town Counsel Chris Kenny to walk through 20 articles on the Special and Annual Town Meeting warrants, confirming presenters and vote thresholds for each. The most discussed item was the MBTA Communities zoning article, appearing before voters for the third time, which spans 13 pages and will have no formal slide presentation; Town Administrator Charles Seelig said a one-page handout will be available at the door. The board also addressed logistics for the May 16 annual election, agreeing to place LED directional signs near Plymouth Street after Cavanagh confirmed that a same-day dance recital at the high school could mislead voters now directed to the Gordon W. Mitchell School for the first time. The session closed with a unanimous roll-call vote to enter executive session for contract negotiations with the Police Chief and Deputy Police Chief under MGL Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(2).
